At least I'm consistent - I know what not to do, so I'll just stop doing
it! And with no throttling, it does it fast.

no problem - we both know what's happening here

I thought I saw a blank disk image at one point, but I couldn't find it
today. I just deleted everything from one of the images and renamed it
"EMPTY". I wanted to INIT it so I could change the volume label; I
guess I can do that with the DUMP utility, but that seems a little heavy
handed. Otherwise, copying on the host works fine for now but I'm still
looking ahead to the ability to (transparently) swap real and virtual
disks between real and virtual machines.

whoops - sorry - never bothered to mount a disk RO to see if it changed.
If you get bored, you could still do a drive select light.

Will do!
