The Magnolia and CDR boards have enough added logic to change the clocks, data separator, write precomp etc. all with an output bit. -- Ring the bells that you can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack in everything That's how the light gets in -- Leonard Cohen, from "Anthem" -- Lee A. I tried to install the second controller in the computer but had a problems with a loose connector (the 25 pin one) and was unable to get it to install. Do you know how long it should take to format one of the soft-sectored drives, or what steps the program does? It sounds like it's formatting for just over a minute and then it states "Unable to format this disk." almost immediately. What's interesting is when it's configured as a 96 tpi drive, it takes about 68 seconds before giving the error message, and it when it's configured as a 48 tpi drive it takes about 34 seconds. This implies that it failing during some type of verification step. It looks like I need a 4.7 uF Tantalum capacitor, but the manual didn't state the voltage of the part. Looking at another case - an H77 it appears that it may be a 50V part, but using a DMM it appears that there is just a 19.3 V drop across it. I found some 35V parts on ebay and was wondering if anyone knew if this would work? (The circuit board number is 85-2107-3, and the manual for the H77 is available on the ftp server). Thanks, Mark BTW: I've made no progress on the soft-sectored controller, but was able to also get about 35 hard-sectored disks with software on them.
