|Have you looked at the 'unofficial' HDOS 3.0 images that are in the
|archives? If I remember correctly, the notes mentioned that they are
|soft-sectored images but I haven't had a chance to played with them to
|verify that.

They are soft sector, single sided, single density.  They are also
"official" at least in the sense that they were what was being sold
as HDOS 3.0 just before whoever-it-was decided that he wasn't going
to release the source code after all (because it was too hard to
use or some such silliness) and I lost interest.
