Hi Jack
I have a tool that I've not released yet that I use. It
transfers an image between the H89/90 and a PC through the
serial ports. The problem is that it has never been tested
on a H8 yet. I just got my H8 w/ Z80 running. I suspect that
the code I have will work fine with those that have the
4 port serial card ( H8-4 ). On the H89, I use the LP
port ( 340Q, w/ least hardware configuration changes ).
This board uses 8250 chips. I'll be checking this configuration
out this weekend if my H27 is functional.
I have enough boards and such to do the same for a H8
with 8080, H8-5 and a H17 board. In this particular case, there
is no H8-4. Instead it has a H8-5 serial/cassette board.
I know my code is not compatable here since this board
uses a 8251 and I'm not initializing or talking correctly
to this part. I need to know how to configure this setup
since I suspect that there is an address conflict with
this board and the H17 board.
Now, remember that my code was actually written primarily
to boot strap a machine from ground zero with only blank
disks and the images on a PC. It can be used to transfer images
to and from the H8x machine, as well.
I'd like to check it out on at least the H8-4 configuration
before making the first release. I'll then make another
release for those that are restricted to talking through
only a H8-5 board.
Patience please. I didn't intend to take as long as I have
but it should be ready soon.
Dwight
